Africa is full of commercial opportunities. Finding the credible ones shouldn't be difficult.
IZONAI Digital discovers, verifies and explains commercial opportunities in and with Africa: for African entrepreneurs at home and in the diaspora, and for companies, investors and institutions doing business in Africa. We also help businesses source suppliers and equipment from China and the United Kingdom.

Who it is for: African founders aged 15–22 who already run a business or project
- Free to apply
- Personal coaching and practical courses
- Milestone-based cash stipends
IZONAI Reality CheckNot a lump-sum grant and not for idea-stage founders. The widely quoted $40,000 is a shared, competitive prize pool at the end of year two, not an amount each fellow receives.
View OpportunityClosing soonMastercard Foundation Scholarships at ALU Rwanda and ALCHE Mauritius 2027: Who Qualifies, What's Covered and How to Apply
Rwanda and Mauritius • Fellowship
Closes 14 Nov 20269 days left
Who it is for: Secondary-school leavers across Africa who have completed their final national examinations, together with their parents, teachers and school counsellors. It suits students with strong results and leadership experience whose families cannot afford university fees. Students who did not fit the UBC International Scholars Program may find these options closer to home.
- Competitive full-ride Mastercard Foundation scholarship for selected applicants, as described by ALU and ALCHE
- Undergraduate degrees in entrepreneurial leadership, software engineering, computer science or international business (options differ by institution and intake)
- A pan-African student community with leadership and career development built into the programme
IZONAI Reality CheckThese are competitive full-ride opportunities for selected applicants, not automatic awards. ALU calls its Mastercard Foundation scholarship full-ride, and ALCHE says its awards cover full tuition plus additional financial support. But three things are easy to miss. First, both institutions say only a limited number of scholarships are available per intake, so selection is competitive. Second, admission does not guarantee funding. You can be admitted and still be waitlisted or turned down for the scholarship. Third, neither institution's public pages list every item the scholarship pays for, so confirm exactly what is covered in your scholarship offer or contract before you accept.

Canada • Fellowship
Closes 15 Nov 202610 days left
Who it is for: High-achieving international students finishing secondary school, including students across Africa, together with their parents, teachers and school counsellors. The programme is open to students from any country outside Canada; it is not exclusive to Africa.
- Need-based funding towards study and living costs, set by UBC's assessment
- Dedicated International Scholars advisers and 200+ hours of development workshops
- Access to co-op, exchange and a global scholar community
IZONAI Reality CheckMany websites describe this programme simply as 'fully funded'. That is not how UBC presents it. UBC does not publish fixed award values: the amount and what it covers are decided by UBC after it assesses your family's finances, and depend on the award you receive and its conditions. Some awards can be substantial. UBC says, for example, that the Vantage One Excellence Award ranges up to the full cost of a student's programme and living expenses. But no level of funding is automatic. Headlines also leave out the nomination rule: you cannot apply on your own. You need a nominator from your school (or, in limited circumstances, an eligible non-profit) and a separate teacher referee, and each school can nominate only up to two students for UBC Vancouver and one for UBC Okanagan. Finally, applying to this programme means you will not be considered for UBC's separate merit-based scholarships (IMES and OIS).

Online (open to African citizens worldwide) • Fellowship
Closes 1 Dec 202626 days left
Who it is for: Citizens of any African country, at home or in the diaspora: secondary and university students, graduates, job seekers, entrepreneurs and working professionals who want practical AI and digital skills. Women and girls are especially encouraged to apply.
- Tuition covered for eligible self-paced courses in AI, data, automation, cybersecurity, digital marketing and business
- Open to citizens of any African country, living in Africa or abroad, with no degree or technical background required
- Free to apply, with learning access from 1 January 2027
IZONAI Reality CheckThis is a free, low-barrier learning opportunity that is open to Africans everywhere. That is valuable, and it does not ask for any fee. But the $5,000 is the provider's own valuation of course access, not a payment, and its basis is not explained. On the platform's own course pages, many courses are listed at $100 and currently sold at $49.99, so access to around 100 such courses would come to roughly $5,000; the provider has not confirmed this is the basis. Apply if you want practical digital skills and can study on your own. Do not apply expecting cash, a formal qualification or a job, and never pay anyone who claims they can secure the scholarship for you.

OpenGates Cambridge 2027/28: Fully Funded Cambridge Postgraduate Study for Africans — Who Can Apply and How
United Kingdom • Fellowship
Closes 8 Dec 202633 days left
Who it is for: Graduates from any country outside the UK, including Africans at home and in the diaspora, applying for a full-time PhD, MLitt or one-year postgraduate course at Cambridge
- Full tuition (University Composition Fee)
- £23,152 a year living costs (2026/27 rate)
- Flights, visa and Immigration Health Surcharge
IZONAI Reality CheckThere is no separate scholarship form. You apply for your Cambridge course and for Gates Cambridge in the same University application, and the two decisions run side by side. Gates Cambridge only considers applicants whom their Cambridge department has nominated, and an award also depends on securing a place on the course. A strong academic case therefore matters most.

UAE • Qatar • Chile • South Korea • Estonia

- Prizes
- Founder visa
Reality check: None of them simply pays you to relocate, and two are closed until the next cycle.

Germany and Canada
- Germany's Section 24a route lets an employer hire you while you gain a German licence and the EU professional qualification (Code 95) within 15 months
- Canada's Job Bank shows which employers are open to international candidates
- Free official job-search advice for people abroad from Germany's Federal Employment Agency (ZAV)
Reality check: These routes are real, but they are not quick and they are not free. Most African drivers will need to retest, complete Code 95 or Canadian entry-level training, and reach the language level an employer asks for. Costs can run to several thousand euros in Germany and around CA$10,000 for one Alberta Class 1 course (indicative). Some German employers pay for training, but this is not guaranteed, so get it in writing. In Canada, every open truck-driver posting we could read on 30 October 2026 was limited to people already authorised to work there. No employer or agent can guarantee a visa.

London • United Kingdom
- International applications welcome, with visa sponsorship support offered by the employer for candidates with relevant specialist experience
- Permanent, full-time roles on major UK infrastructure and foundation projects
- Open to operators at different experience levels with strong specialist ground-engineering knowledge
Reality check: This is a genuine employer advert from a major international contractor, and its welcome to international applicants is real. But it is an expression of interest, not a vacancy with an offer. Sponsorship support from VSL does not guarantee a visa. GOV.UK lists the operative occupation codes we checked as ineligible for new Skilled Worker visas, and the register of licensed sponsors dated 4 November 2026 lists no organisation named VSL, although Bouygues (U.K.) Limited is listed. Confirm the sponsoring company, occupation code and salary with VSL before you invest money or leave a job. Apply only through the official careers site. VSL's advert does not ask for any fee, and nobody should charge you to be considered.

About
IZONAI Digital is an independent African business opportunity intelligence platform. We discover, verify and explain commercial developments across African markets — from funding and grants to trade, manufacturing and market openings — for the entrepreneurs, traders and businesses who stand to benefit from them, whether they are African businesses at home or in the diaspora, or international companies, investors and institutions working with Africa.
We cover the full range of African commercial activity, not only large corporates and technology startups: manufacturers, agro-processors, traders, wholesalers, distributors, exporters and logistics businesses are as central to our coverage as any other sector.
IZONAI is new in its present form; the commercial experience behind it is not. It builds on more than 20 years of firsthand business in China, from Shanghai and Guangzhou, connecting African importers and companies with suppliers and manufacturers. China & UK Business Access
IZONAI Digital is operated by BuyBeta Ltd, a UK-registered company.
